39 - Day - Writing Challenge

Hi Peeps.

It's the time to revive the holiday challenge, once again. I plan to write as much as possible. I plan to do it on a daily basis. I plan to go small but to do it consistently. Hence, the key to this challenge is CONSISTENCY!

By right, today is Day 2/39. I'll officially begin the challenge tomorrow at the break of dawn. As for today's post, please relish the clear blue November morning sky. This picture was taken this morning.

Dreams vs Perseverance ...

Hi lovely people.

I'm back. 

Apologies for the long hiatus in blogging, as I'm after my dream. 

Due to that dream, I stopped blogging and gardening. 

I ceased weeding and fertilizing. 

I didn't trim the plants in my garden. 

As a result, my roses rarely bloomed. 

My bougainvilleas refused to grow. 

My hibiscus and hydrangeas were attacked by aphids and deadly fungi. 

Most of them are in a sorry state now.

Hope to revive them soon.

Day 12/37

Day 12.

How time flies. I couldn't agree more with the old adage; time flies when you're having fun!

I have a feeling that I haven't done much in these 12 days. I don't see any vital project accomplished thus far. I'm yet to lay my hand on the stalled 'project'! I was diverted each time I sat down for it. I need to do something. I have to do it quick!

No matter what the project is, gardening is still my top priority! Let's admire the charming old school flowers that provide the cheery blue to my garden, Dusita Vista Garden.

This baby blue beauty, Plumbago auriculata, is always very dear to me. I've been yearning for this flower from the moment I laid eyes on it. Now, I'm the proud owner of three healthy Plumbago plants and they keep me smiling with their continuous blooms. They are a little idle during the rainy season though.

Chula ... Day 4

Good day peeps.

This is the last update for the four-day stint at the rain trees university. Since we, Fiona, Zu, Is and I, couldn't have enough of Chula, we revisited the uni early in the morning on the very last day in Bangkok. We decided to scout around the prestigious institution and drink in the serenity of its surrounding, and we did just that!

Walking through the age-old university campus on that cool morning, the grace of the centuries-old buildings in their garden setting provides an apt framework for higher education, even the more prosaic structures have been softened by the lush greenery.

It can be said that the vast campus area is over overgrown with rain trees or จามจุรี in Thai, and these trees have become the symbol of the university.  Generations of students have read and reviewed their lessons under the shade of the leafy gigantic rain trees. I'm very fortunate to have walked under the shade of the gigantic trees and tasted a sip of its greatness.

June 24, 2015 was the day. Yes, it was the day. The day that I've been waiting for - the International ASEAN Research Network Symposium. It was my very first paper presentation at an international conference. I'd like to label it international as it was held in others homeland and the panelists were international figures. The experience was surely of immeasurable value. 

Having my paper accepted for this conference was a great honour. I was both thrilled and anxious about presenting my paper in front of international audience. However, years of experience in training fellow teachers did help tremendously.

The days leading up to the conference were spent preparing and refining my PPT presentations. I owe my supervisor, Prof Bala, a great debt of gratitude for all his guidance and endless support. In actual fact, his words of encouragement spurred me on to take up this challenge.

I did it!

Overall, I truly enjoyed being part of the conference. Apart from getting a huge round of applause from the delegates and being lauded the most passionate and lively presentation, there are a few take home messages that I will definitely apply in my future undertakings:

• Being too humble can limit momentum, cause you to not celebrate accomplishments, and give reasons as to why you shouldn’t take risks. 
• An overabundance of humility can cause you to lack self confidence.
• Nobody is perfect but everyone is perfect in their own way.
• You can do it if you believe you can.
