Goodbye February ...

Day 59/365

Goodbye February.
Your presence is short-lived.
Your stint is brief.
Thanks for being the shortest month of the year.
See you again next year.

We bid farewell to February with Hainanese chicken rice and tomyam seafood spaghetti.

FocusBooster ...

Day 58/365

I'm in a dire need of a focus booster.
I'm often sidetracked.
I wasn't focusing and I'm not focusing, still.
I registered as a student again on February 7, 2014 and to this date, it' s been 385 days.
I didn't progress much.
The Thesis Whisperer introduced me the Focus Booster and I'll definitely give it a try.
This is how it looks like on my work.

Hope it'll help me focus.

The Celebration ...

Day 57/365

Kids are the happiest one.

They await this day.

Everyone is given an angpao.

They get to dress up.

They seize the chance to parade their season-outfits.

The majority adhere to the age-old belief; they don fiery red clothes.

What matter most is - happiness!

Every kid enjoys themself to the fullest despite the differences.

Batik ...

Day 56/365

The fabric was ordered by my younger sister, Mira.

Hers is purple while mine is blue.

Both pieces of batik were purchased last year,
but I couldn't decide on the seamstress.

Eventually, the suit was done last week.

We donned it today as we attended a district meeting together.

What do you think of the colour?

What do you think of the design?

She's contented ...

Day 55/365

Once, there was a teacher. She was posted to a vernacular school. Unfortunately, she didn't speak the language. She knew nought about the medium used at the school. She felt uneasy. She couldn't give her best. In actuality, she was one of the best student from her college. When she was posted to that school, her world changed. She was sidelined. She was downtrodden. She deserved to be heard but she was not. Despite all the odds, she loved her job. She enjoyed teaching. She loved her students and they adored her.

Now, she is well into her 20th year of teaching, and she's still attached to a vernacular school. The situation has not changed much. She is given menial task at school functions, still. She is a small fish at school meetings, still. She felt left out most of the time. Nonetheless, she insists on staying put at the school. She refuses self-advancement. She declines golden opportunities that came knocking on her door. To her, the love of teaching supercedes everything elses!

In Quest of Knowledge ...

Day 53/365

The journey home took him eight hours, and his mom said it was a long one.

The journey back to the college took him 18 hours, and his mom was sleepless.

I miss you Kak Ros ..

Day 52/365

I received this shocking message around four in the morning. Just imagine, how my heart thumping and it was the longest night ever.

Pn Rositah Alwi Penyelia BI Jpn Kedah telah meninggal dunia jam 1.30 pagi tadi di hospital sultanah bahiyah.Alfatihah.

My dear Kak Ros Rositah Alwi,

"What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget"

Here vs There ...

Day 51/365

Here in your own house, you can enjoy life to the fullest.

Here, in your abode, you deserve to rest after a hard day's work.

Here, in your parents' territory, you are treated as a princess.

Here, your spouse is also entitled to the juiciest part of the chicken.

Here, your partner is also treated as one of their own.

Here, your partner is entitled to a good rest.

No one will ever gawk at you or your spouse for enjoying your food or for taking a much needed break

But, ...
Everything is different over there.

Day 49/365

I used to adore LinkWithin.

I used to fall for this gadget.

I used to spend lots of time searching for LinkWithin.

I used to waste many hours of my precious time learning about LinkWithin.

I used to like how it looks on others' blog.

I had it install on my blog.

However, it's gone now.

I've had it removed!

I'm happy to have the gadget deleted.

My blog looks neater and more presentable without the cluttered Related Posts.

The hip-new look complements my magazine-style blog.

As usual, I spent many hours searching for tips on how to have it deleted, but none worked.

I tried adding CSS Code but the LinkWithin was still around.

I tried more advanced way - fiddling with the HTML Codes.

Alas, LinkWithin refused to leave.

Finally, I removed the gadget in the right side bar.

Phew! It was gone.

Time and again , it's through trial and error!

The PTA Meeting ...

Day 48/365

We had a meeting with parents rep yesterday. It was one of the longest meeting I've ever attended. They rarely abide by the set agendas. The discussion was long and winding. They, parents and some teachers tend to beat around the bush. I dreaded such a meeting. I long for a meeting with the intellects. I miss an intellectual discussion.

The Director (2) ...

The following pictures speak a thousand words...

I'm truly proud of you, son.

The Director...

Day 46/365

He was a shy boy.

He was a boy of a few words.

He was highly inferior.

He was timid.

He wasn't used to being a leader.

He didn't like to be in the limelight.

He used to be one of the backbenchers.

Things changed recently.

Things changed when he entered college.

He studies harder.

He's elected class rep.

He's elected project director.

He did his job well.

He's now a polished leader.

In short, Korn is a late bloomer.

I'm proud of you, son.

Being a one-day student ...

Day 45/365

Behind an adult student there are hoards of great people.

I'm very fortunate to have a very caring and understanding life partner.

I'm very fortunate to have a very brilliant and compassionate daughter.

I'm very fortunate to have a thoughtful and highly responsible son.

I'm extremely fortunate to have  loving and caring parents.

Yesterday, I attended a proposal presentation and met up with my SV.

It took up half a day.

My hubby and daughter were very kind to accompany me there.

They waited for hours without a single complaint.

Thank you for the love!

It's the best Valentine's Day gift ever.

The Proposal Presentation ...

Day 44/365

I was invited to the Proposal Presentation.

It was an eye-opener.

I learned a lot from the two-hour session.

I'll definitely apply it when my time comes.

Thanks dear SV for your kindness and guidance.

The First Sign of Water ...

Day 43/365

One's cannot live without water.

We're extremely fortunate to have running water in the house.

We're truly lucky to have water at the turn of the tap.

Learn to treasure water.

Learn to save water.

Learn to conserve water.

It's the Elixir of Our Life!

Show Time ...

Day 42/365

Teaching is my core business.

Training is an added task.

Nonetheless, I enjoy doing both.

Thus far, I've never rejected any request to do conduct training for fellow teachers,

and for sure, I've to be at the training ground earlier than the participants.

I mustered up the courage and drove through an unfamiliar route.

It was an isolated path.

The road was meandering and weaving through the hilly jungle.

It was a real uphill task.

As usual, I was among the early birds.

I set up my station and perform the show with gusto!

Surprisingly, my station was the merriest and liveliest.

It was  a hit among the LINUS kids as well as their teachers!

Teaching vs Training (2) ...

Day 41/365

Teaching is my core business.

Training is an added task.

Nonetheless, I enjoy doing both.

Thus far, I've never rejected any request to do conduct training for fellow teachers,

and for sure, before each training, we have to meet up.

Lots of discussion and preparation have to be carried out.

I've to stay up late. I've to sacrifice my family time.

I've to leave my household chores undone (for a day!)

Yet, again I enjoy preparing and gearing up for the best!

Teaching vs training (1) ...

Day 40/365

Thus far, I've never rejected any request to do conduct training for fellow teachers,

and for sure, before each training, we have to meet up.

Lots of discussion and preparation have to be carried out.

Yet, again I enjoy them all.

The Waves in My School...

 Day 39/365

The waves are here again. This time around, the impact will be more succinct and stronger. They must be felt by everyone. It must be supported by the head and everyone in the house.

The arrival was greeted simply but meaningfully. There's neither frills nor thrills in welcoming the Waves. Nonetheless, it was loved and awaited for.
Kid's perception and respond are the only thing that matters.

We're going to ride the Waves together!

Saturday, 7 February 2015

Time spent with my family is time well spent ...

Day 38/365

We had breakfast together.

We shopped for lunch together.

We prepared lunch together
