August 31 ...

Happy Independence Day, fellow Malaysians!

It's our country 57th Independence Day. A little history lesson here ...

Malaysia or Malaya, as it was known then, gained its independence from the British on August 31, 1957.

It's a public holiday for everyone here today. My son is home, too.

The Merdeka Day, as it's fondly called here, is indeed a Family Day.

It's a great day to revive and to rejuvenate.

Selamat Hari Merdeka, Malaysia!

Di Sini Lahirnya Sebuah Cinta!

Happy Friday ...

Happy Friday, sweet friends.

I hope all of you had a great week. Mine was awesome.

I received this  great piece of news on Tuesday. It's the much awaited one. I got it after applying for the fourth time. This quote When there is no peril in the fight there is no glory in the triumph by
Pierre Corneille is indeed very true for me.

On the same day, I concluded the action research done for my school. I've talked about it here and I'm happy with the outcome.

On Wednesday, I attended a teachers' professional development seminar - a very fruitful one! Took home plethora of useful tips for future preparation.
On Thursday, I was told by my boss that my email to the officer-in-charge was read at the launching of E-Pocket. Another piece of great news for me. Though it might sound 'small' to some but to me it means 'huge'!
To conclude, it's indeed a wonderful week.

Our E-Pocket ...

An email to the officer-in-charge.

Good day Madam Aiza.

First of all, I would like to congratulate you and your team for the launching of E-Pocket. You've done a great job.

As for our school, SYC, we distributed the cute little blue booklet to our students on Sunday, August 24, 2014. Once they got hold of the book, they couldn't resist the temptation to write. They kept on writing until they're told to stop doing it. I didn't 'hold' my Year Six from writing. They find it very beneficial.

They love everything about the book. They love the sentence patterns. They love the colour. They love the design. There's only complain about the E-Pocket - the micro font!

However, I regret to inform you that none of us, English teachers (only 2 teachers) could be there with you to witness the grand JERAYAWARA. We're tied down with some other commitment and responsibilities. We're very sorry.

Attached are the testimonials of E-Pocket in our school.

At Last ...

Happy Tuesday beautiful people.

With the windows wide open, the cool breeze blows on my face. It's a perfect day though.

I'll jump straight to the point. I'm super excited to share with you a piece of good news.

I've written about it many moons ago.

It's all about the 'help' that I've been waiting for umpteen years ago.

It comes ... at last.

I'm all thrilled when I checked it online.

The word TAHNIAH which means CONGRATULATIONS was flashed across the page.

It means a great deal to me.

It'll assist me, financially, of course throughout my long lonely journey.

I'm grateful.

It's time to report ...

Hi everyone.

Time flies. Yes, time flies when we 're having fun. I couldn't agree more with this age old adage.

My school action research is due in five day's time. I was handpicked by my boss, i.e. my Headmistress to carry out an action research on my behalf of my school. And, the research dateline is approaching like wild fire.

In the meantime, I have to grade the primary five and primary six test papers. Time and again, I'm one of the two 'chosen' language teachers who are entrusted with two Upper Level classes. My papers are the last to be tested, and the class teachers are after me for the kids' grades.

No matter what, it's timely for me to start the reporting part.

The Global Classroom ...

Good day peeps.

It's a beautiful day. What appeared to be a bright sunny day has turned to a wet day. As a matter of fact, it's an oxymoron - a sunny wet day!

I'm here today, attending its annual teaching and learning semonar. The big theme is "The Global Classroom".

Among the key matters picked up are - massification, OER, MOOCs and antifragile. Though they sound farfetch but they're happening.

A fruitful day indeed. It's good to hear it from the horse's mouth. A milion thank to my supervisor for 'turning' me in.

Our Online Collaboration Class ...

Good day people.

How's life? Ours was awesome. Things are picking up. Our online class has reached its peak last Thursday. It wasn't the first. We had had numerous online collaboration lessons but this particular lesson was an exceptional one.

In the previous online collaboration, all of us, my students and I were bundled together in the so-called 'computer lab'. We collaborated online as well as offline. Most of the time, I shouted my heart out and they answered me in unison.

For the Thursday's lesson, we were 20 kilometres apart. The kids were at the usual place, the tiny computer room while I was  at home. As the kids were struggling to accomplish the given tasks, I suggested and commented on their work. They collaborated with their group members as they raced against time to complete the tasks, and they're coerced to share their bits and pieces with me. We had a great time together. All in all, I could go through 10 assignments of exceptional quality.

I'm contented. We're on the right track. I wasn't only keeping up with the new technologies but I've managed to integrate them productively into my teaching.

The following screenshots are the testimonials of our Online Collaboration Class.

The Sharing Session..

Good day beaus.

After school today, I was asked to share my lttle knowledge on Frog VLE with my colleagues. We had a great time together. Hope they will explore the Frog World further.

All in all, technology provided is meant to be utilised in the name of education. Since virtual learning environment is in trend now, let's hop in together.

Of Desktop PC,Netbook and Tab ...

Good evening beautiful people.

I decided to post this entry when I once again use my long-forgotten Netbook. After sprucing and upgrading it months ago, I handed it to my girl. It was in her good hand for quite a while. As for tonight, I 'loan' it from her because I need it for tomorrow's motivation camp.

I can't rely on my Tab for the presentation job. My PC is definitely out of question. We have 41 units of Chromebooks and those too are of no help. I'm sure you're well aware that any piece of work done on Microsoft Windows is not supported in Chromebook.

In short, the 5-year-old Netbook's service is sought. It's still working smoothly. It loads at a satisfying speed. Its keyboard is very user-friendly. It used to be with me when I struggled for my second degree. Thank you dear old buddy. Hope you won't disappoint me at the SJKT tomorrow.
